Empower the Next Generation of String Musicians

Orchestra music is at risk of disappearing, especially in rural communities where students have little to no access to learning or performing in string orchestras. Research shows that participation in instrumental music leads to higher academic achievement, improved standardized test scores, and increased graduation rates. It also fosters self-confidence, social development, and emotional well-being.

However, many rural public schools lack string orchestra programs, leaving students without these critical opportunities. Wake Forest Community Youth Orchestra (WFCYO) bridges the gap by providing free access to instruments, high-quality orchestral training, and performance opportunities for youth in under-resourced areas.

By removing financial barriers and geographical barriers, WFCYO ensures that all students-regardless of background-can experience the transformative power of string music. Our work has helped over 400 students annually:

  • build self-confidence
  • excel academically
  • become active members of their communities

Our string programs are the first and only string program for youth in Franklin and Vance Counties. We also meet the need in the rural communities of Wake Forest, Zebulon, and Rolesville where string programs have been eliminated by the public school system. With your support, we can continue expanding access, reaching more students, and keeping orchestral music alive for future generations.

Join us in making a lasting impact - because every child deserves the chance to play, learn, and thrive.
